The Post In Which I Give My Obligatory New Years Resolutions (plus a few after Christmas sales)

OK, so I know I'm not obligated to make or give New Years resolutions, but it is the norm and this year I actually have some resolutions in mind, so I might as well get them down on paper to hold myself accountable.  Err, get them down on the internet for the entire world to see...well, my readers.. what am I up to, 6 or 7 now?  Ok, you 7, you know who you are, you are to help hold me accountable, got it?

But first, a few after Christmas sale items that caught my attention, for your viewing pleasure:

After Christmas Sale

Jessica's 2014 New Year Resolutions

1.  Get off of auto!  When I bought my DSLR camera a few months back I told myself I actually wanted to learn how to use it, and I still do, I just haven't set aside the time to figure it all out.  But I must get off of auto and start figuring out manual mode!

2.  Get my run (back) on.   I ran a marathon in 2010, and I still consider it one of my biggest accomplishments to date.  I can't say I will train for one again, but now that we're settling into a routine with the baby I want to get this last bit of baby weight off and running was something that helped me get into the best shape of my life previously.  Because I really hate running outside most of the time, I bit the bullet and joined a gym and have already been three times in the first week-hooray! Usually running inside on the treadmill though, helps me to gear up for my outside runs. In general I just want to get back into shape.  I believe being fit and healthy is a lifestyle, and one I need to slide back into.

3.  Meal plan and cook more.  Back in 2012, I think it was, I made a resolution to cook more and I did a pretty good job of trying new recipes and getting dinner on the table from the kitchen rather than the drive through.  99.9% of this year though, we've been eating out because I have found it nearly impossible to cook or plan a meal.  I have such trouble planning the grocery list and trying to find meals that are cohesive so  the ingredients can work together on multiple nights. With both my husband and I working full-time, and a baby, I'm not going to even attempt to be Martha Stewart, but I seriously need to set aside time to get this whole meal planning thing figured out.

That's all I have for you!  Thank-you for reading this little space of mine and I hope you all have a fabulous New Year!  See you in 2014!

  3. I need to learn my camera more too!! And bring on the meal planning...I could only hope & pray!! LOL! Happy New Year and many blessings to you in 2014!! xoxo

  4. haha, I've got an obligatory goal post, too! I'm excited for you to learn more about the DSLR- you'll LOVE shooting in manual mode once you get there :) And #3 is one of mine, too- our meals get SO boring and I need to think outside of the box a little and plan ahead more.

  5. Those are great goals, Jessica! I'm with you on the meal planning thing... with my husband in school full-time, working part-time and me working full-time, our meal planning has been awful the past semester. I am ready to improve once and for all!

    Happy 2014!

  6. Those are some really great goals, girlie! I'm a fan!
